Arc 3 contains many of the biggest adventures yet for this series. From the Jungles of Koth to the Xlotic deserts of Miasina, Zorian and Zach continue their efforts of gathering all the keys. While they still spend a lot of time upskilling and preparing themselves, mainly with some (quite) unlikely mentors, the MCs accomplish quite a few crazy feats in this one.

I also appreciated the continued character development of Zorian and his family. They don’t have a healthy relationship at all, but with Zorian’s current maturity and Zach’s outside point-of-view, we get a chance to really see what happened that ended up landing Zorian his “black sheep” role in the family.

Like all of the Arcs before, this one ended spectacularly, with a cliffhanger that makes me want to continue reading. I’ve been taking my time with reading this series, and I’ve thankfully been able to keep from bingeing, even though I want to. This series is just so addicting and easy to keep reading!

Spoiler thoughts about the plot events

I really couldn't believe it when Quatach-Ichl just showed up in a random tavern and decided to interrogate Zach and Zorian about what the heck they're up to. In hindsight this is something that could have happened at any point of the story if he had figured it out, but his casual way of dealing with these two teenagers expert mages had me cackling.

Also, Silverlake is both annoying/frustrating, and a greatly entertaining character. I've been spoiled about some of the future events in the story for Arc 4, so seeing the hints laying the groundwork was quite interesting to see (trying not to reveal what it is since obviously I haven't read Arc 4 either).
