This book is explicit BL. I seriously considered not bothering to write any impressions, but in the end, I wanted to record my own thoughts about this work. I will be putting everything under spoiler text due to the R18 content.
You've been warned!
I honestly got the impression that the whole book would focus on Tsurutani’s story and his fall into “depravity” with the American men featured on the cover, but it’s actually two separate stories in one book. The first story is how Tsurutani becomes quite the enthusiastic enjoyer of intimate relations with men and how he seduces the company CEO, and the second is how Tsurutani’s ex, Dan, copes with losing Tsurutani by finding another man, Ryousuke, to “ruin”.
My synopsis makes these stories sound like whimsical erotic romps, but in true Konohara Narise fashion the stories end up being dark and psychological. Ryousuke basically sleeps his way to the top only to realize that he can’t actually do his job or have the live he wanted to live, and ends up professionally and physically dependent on Dan.
Given the type of book that this is, I honestly would have liked it better if the focus was on Tsurutani’s story. I think we spent way too much time with the second guy’s miserable circumstances, which is a real mood killer. I don’t care about Ryousuke’s shitty life, I wanted more of Tsurutani’s R18 development!
Ugh, this is why I didn’t want to write my impressions in the first place…
